Dead Reckoning’s Fave Recovery Gear
In our months training for the Rebelle we’ve been stuck. A lot. And we’ve been fortunate to have friends with us to get us out. Most of the time. We’ve done a lot of training with the Barlow Adventures crew and they stress how to do things safely and with the proper gear. We feel pretty good about the gear we’ve compiled and are taking with us on the Rebelle. Having the right gear and knowing how to use it can give an incredible boost of confidence when you’re out on the trail. And that’s usually when you get stuck.

Dead Reckoning’s camp favorites
Here are a few of our favorite solutions to problems that may or may not exist. Lani likes to say there’s a purchase for every problem and every item on this list has been field tested by the team and has earned our highest recommendation!

Unplanned Upgrade Opportunities
We are video producers so of course we would decide to promote our team with video. To that end we booked a crew (cajoled some friends for favors) scripted and storyboarded a video and chose a shoot day and location.

Lessons from Project Baja
Back in 2017 we were asked by our client, VW, to pull together a video crew and cover the Project Baja team in the Baja 1000. Since I’d learned about the Baja 1000 from the Desert Dingo Race Team on another VW shoot back in 2015 I had been waiting (and occasionally begging) for our client to come to us with this assignment.

Training with the Champs
Team Dead Reckoning recently traveled to the Imperial Sand Dunes for seven days with the Barlow Adventures squad for training in driving, navigation, and a small dose of desert survival we’ll need for the Rebelle.
